Chelsea edged a five-goal London derby at Craven Cottage, leading 2-1 at half-time. João Pedro struck inside the first minute, M. Rogers made it two on 41 and C. Palmer added a third on 49, with J. King (23') and Gonzalo García (54') pulling goals back for Fulham.
NEWCASTLE UNITED 2-2 LIVERPOOL
Newcastle and Liverpool shared the points in a 2-2 draw after the hosts led 1-0 at half-time. A. Elanga put Newcastle ahead on 5 minutes, C. Gakpo levelled on 55, J. Willock restored the lead on 57, and D. Szoboszlai converted a stoppage-time penalty (90+9) to snatch a point for the visitors.
BRIGHTON 4-0 ASTON VILLA
Brighton thrashed Aston Villa 4-0, four goals to the good by half-time. V. Lindelöf turned into his own net on 8 minutes, M. De Cuyper added a second on 18, and J. Hinshelwood struck twice in quick succession (30' and 31'), with Villa's João Gomes sent off on 40.
MANCHESTER CITY 2-1 BOURNEMOUTH
Manchester City came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 after trailing at the break. M. Tavernier put the visitors ahead on 26 minutes, M. Guéhi equalised on 84, and J. Gvardiol grabbed the winner deep in stoppage time (90+1).
BRENTFORD 3-0 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Brentford beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0, two goals to the good at the break. K. Lewis-Potter opened the scoring on 12 minutes, V. Janelt doubled the lead on 33 and M. Kayode added a third on 49 as the Bees kept a clean sheet.
IPSWICH TOWN 2-1 SUNDERLAND
Ipswich edged Sunderland 2-1 at Portman Road after a 1-1 half-time scoreline. Emersonn opened the scoring on 24 minutes, N. Angulo levelled for Sunderland on 39, and J. Clarke grabbed the winner in the 90th minute.
EVERTON 2-0 CRYSTAL PALACE
Everton made a winning start against Crystal Palace, ahead 1-0 at the break. K. Dewsbury-Hall broke the deadlock on 42 minutes and T. Barry doubled the lead on 53 as the Toffees kept a clean sheet.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0-1 LEEDS UNITED
Leeds took a narrow win at the City Ground after a goalless first half. A. Stach struck the only goal of the match on 88 minutes to seal all three points for the visitors.
HULL CITY 2-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
Hull City made a statement against Manchester United, racing into a 2-0 lead by half-time and holding on for a clean sheet. S. Ajayi opened the scoring on 17 minutes and N. Mendy doubled the advantage on 38.
ARSENAL 3-0 COVENTRY
Arsenal made a statement on opening night at the Emirates. Kai Havertz fired them ahead on 15 minutes, Bukayo Saka doubled the lead on 23, and Martin Ødegaard wrapped it up just after the break (49'). Two up at half-time and a clean sheet at full-time — a dominant start to the season.
